Music Tour on the Music Trail

Music trail, “Notenspur”, guided tour in the Bach-Museum, Mendelssohn-House and St.Thomas Church

 

If you are interested in music and in musicians who lived and worked in Leipzig, you can book a sightseeing walk with emphasis on music or a walk on the music trail. You will see
  • where Johann Sebastian Bach signed his working contract, where his music was performed first and where he visited friends,
  • where Robert Schumann founded his magazine “Neue Zeitschrift für Musik” and
  • where Richard Wagner was born and went to school
  • You will learn what the Mendelssohn memorial has to do with the failed assassination attempt on Hitler of 20th July 1944 and
  • why Gustav Mahler stayed in Leipzig for only two years .

Leipzig´s “Music Trail“ (Notenspur) is more than 5 kilometers long and leads you along the most important music sights of Leipzig. Of course you will get information about current music life, the Gewandhaus Orchestra, the MDR, the Thomaner and much more.

You can book your individual tour in the Bach-Museum in combination with  St. Thomas Church and/or a guided tour in the Mendelssohn-House. If desired you can combine your tour with a little concert in the “Summer Hall” of the Bach-Museum or in the Music Room of the Mendelssohn-House.
